Today I am going to have a few posts of "rejects" from the latest Paper Crafts call....it was my first time submitting to them...and no luck :(

I tried to take the manly approach, thinking not too many others might do that....didn't work lol!
I made sure to make a card I could also use in other challenges, and also to give away....this one is going in Simon Says Stamp Challenge...Love Is In The Air and to my sweet hubby!!!

Good afternoon ladies!!! Boy it seems like eternity since I have posted!!! I have been spending my time making cards for potential publications that want your work un viewed....so no blog posts :(

Good evening!!! How are you all doing?? Fine I hope! I have been feeling the lack of mojo lately so for me the best thing to do is to find a sketch :)

I am thinking this would be a great card to send to a friend or daughter. I so LOVE hearts....can you tell LOL!! I used an older Hero Arts Wood block that I still LOVE...K5298 paired with a new Clear 2012 set CL582 Year Round Sentiments...the little hearts are also from this set :)

Happy 51st and tutorial

Hello crafters!! Today I have a card I made very quickly last night for hubby's upcoming birthday tomorrow...not totally loving it....I feel the elements are floating and that is what is bothering me about it, but no time to change it and hubby won't care LOL!!

I am going to enter this in Simon Says Stamp Spots and/or Stripes challenge :)

I had a few people inquire about the inked panel on this card HERE. So I have attempted to show you how to achieve the look in a mini tutorial :)

So you will need an acrylic block...I use my largest one because you never know what you may use the inked paper for :) I use Tim Holtz Distress Ink Stains and Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in various colours...randomly apply on block.

As you can see there is not a lot of ink on the block. Next spray the whole block with pearlized water. I mix Perfect Pearls powder in water.

Next press down the block onto WATERCOLOUR paper....press firmly for awhile to allow the ink to absorb into the paper. When you lift up the block the colour will continue to move around.....you can dab off extra ink if you wish before it dries.

Finished paper :) I usually dry it with a heat gun, and then put it under a very heavy text book to completely flatten the paper. Sometimes I will add more ink to the block and reapply. I warn you...this is very addictive and FUN!!

Today I have a few cards to showcase some of the newest stamps :)

In this card I am showcasing a new 2012 release stamp from the Hero Arts AC010 Le Journal cling stamp set paired along with a sentiment from the new 2012 Hero Arts clear stamp set CL582 Year Round Sentiments...a must have set :) I used Hero Arts CG125 Friend Definition to add some texture to the Hero Arts PS605 Cerulean Layering Papers. The Pearls are from the Hero Arts Mixed Accents CH212 and CH213.

For this girly card I began with an older Hero Arts cling background stamp CG123 Flower Wallpaper. Then I laid a banner with Hero Arts PS597 Carnation Layering Papers stamped with S5507 Envelope Pattern wood block....another must have stamp ;) to showcase a new 2012 cling stamp set CG406 Very Special. A couple of Hero Arts CH170 pale pink pearls added for interest :)

For this card I also used the Hero Arts AC010 Le Journal cling stamp set paired with the Hero Arts wood block S5447 Large Plaid Pattern stamped on the inked paper. I used Hero Arts PS620 Blush Layering Papers for this shaped card.

I just had to make one more card using the sentiment panel from the new cling stamp release from Hero Arts CG406 Very Special...love this set :) :)

Hello friends!!! Hope you enjoyed the holidays....now it is back to the grind of work and less crafting :( I wanted to participate in Ellen Hutson's CLASSroom challenge of using a Hero Arts Clear stamp, it is called Ellen Hutson LLC Hero Arts Clear Take 'n Make....not too hard to do....I have collected a good few Hero Arts stamps over the years:) LOVE this company!!

For this card I made my own background with the diamond shaped stamp and little flower from the set CL549 Butterflies and Wildflowers...feels so good to use these little stamps, for I tend not to do so :)

The grid paper is from Papertrey ink. The frame and sentiment are also from Hero Arts clear sets CL476.

I am also going to enter this in Simon Says Stamp "Anything Goes" Challenge :)

Seems like forever since I have posted....had the most wonderful time in the DR at my best friends wedding :)

The card I have to share today is one I will send to her....I enjoy sending just because/hello cards the most!

I used this technique HERE, by Sharon Harnist from Ellen Hutson's blog the CLASSRoom to create this background with a cling stamp CG247 from Hero Arts and Copic markers...I love it...I so love using my copics in different ways :)

I am going to enter this in the Ellen Hutson LLC Hero Arts Cling Take 'n Make the challenge is still on for another two weeks if you are interested.

I used this colour story from The Play Date Cafe challenge #112 :) Always LOVE PDCC colour stories :)

Wee Memories has a challenge going on now that is about something new....well this Copic technique is definitely new for me...something I will be trying again soon...love the textured look it gives :)

I have a card to share that I have made for the current challenge over at the Impression Obsession blog....Pink Challenge :)

I am a huge fan of pink, but once again I just can't leave it all soft and pretty I had to throw in some fuchsia LOL!

Here is the card:

I used the beautiful Cover-A-Card stamp Reverse Damask CC082 and white embossed it with Zing embossing powder, then just filled in the paper area with THDI spun sugar ....easy peasy :)

Good afternoon!! I thought I would get a head start on some cards...I am so over doing Christmas cards :)

I have a masculine card to share today.....not the easiest to make!!

I pulled out the most masculine Hero Arts stamps I had and tried to make it work! Shari Carrol has an amazing video on making pocket cards. You can check it out HERE. I have never made one before, so I thought I would give it a go! Here is my pocket card:

Good morning!! Anyone else feeling the time crunch on getting their Christmas cards mailed out!!!

I thought I would play along with a new challenge blog:) Laurel is currently is having a challenge- Inspired By...

Here is the inspiration photo. I choose to use the cool colours and Christmas theme from the photo for my inspiration. I also liked the modern feel...so I used non-Christmas stamps. The Background is a quilt pattern stamp and the middle panel is a dot pattern stamp...both by Impression Obsession :)

Holiday cards set

Today I have a set of Christmas cards to share:

Over on the Hero Arts blog, the monthly challenge is to create a pocket card, a set, and/or use the following sketches....I choose to use the sketches to make my set :)

I choose to keep using the same product for all three cards in order to make them look like a set...I was pleasantly surprised at how this combined with a sketch really speeds up the creating process=one happy crafter :)

merry Christmas

Good afternoon :)

Well I wrote out the names of people I want to send Christmas cards to and realized I need at least another four....so in the next few posts you know what you will be seeing! It is kinda nice only working 1/2 days at work...due to my pneumonia...I am getting in some crafting time while "taking it easy" :)

I just LOVE red and white for Christmas...next year I am going to do a lot more :) I am entering this in the latest Impression Obsession challenge-What you like to drink....At first I had now idea what to do with this!! I don't have any stamps of drinks or glasses. So I thought I like red wine...so I made this background paper to resemble red wine lol, by using C-A-C CCo33 Quilt stamp by IO and THDI Fired Brick.

Back in time with Ellen Hutson and Julia

Hello friends, I am back again :) I think two weeks of no crafting has totally sparked my desire to mass produce lol!! I found another Anniversary challenge at the Ellen Hutson CLASSroom blog. We were to use a previous technique from the CLASSroom blog. I have been meaning to try this one for the longest time...HERE it is by Julia Stainton..

I basically all out copied Julia, except I used the following Copic colours: G05, YG25, BG15, and B05. It felt so good to get out my neglected Copics :)

I did use rubbing alcohol instead of the Copic Blending Solution. I used the exact same Hero Arts clear set CL549 Butterflies & Wildflowers, but a different HA sentiment: CL476.

Hello!!! It has been soooo long since I have done a post!! I have an excuse...I had the flu which turned into strep thoat which turned into pneumonia! I have been off work for two weeks, but unable to get off the couch, you know you are sick when you can't craft!!!

Hello...I have a multi medium project to show you.....

Do you recognize this project??? If you are a Jennifer McGuire fan like I am, you probably drooled over her amazing multi medium board :) Initially I was "oh I am using up all my favorite product"....but once I got going, I couldn't wait to find the perfect emb for the project...it is going up in my daughters room :)

Good afternoon!! Just in from the garden...trying to get a head start on raking the leaves!! Picture of our beautiful Muskoka leaves below.

I have a card to share that I have been meaning to make for the last three weeks when I realized I missed a very important friends birthday :( BAD me!!

This card is going into a couple of challenges...firstly I am so in LOVE with this colour combo by CR84FN40!! I LOVE how they allow two weeks for their challenges too!! Perfect for us busy crafters :)

Good morning!!! I can't believe that I have two post in two days...holiday Monday's are wonderful :)

I have another card for Simon Says Shine and Glitter challenge :) A dear sweet friend of mine gave me this die cut butterfly that I have adorned with dollar store glitter, so I am unsure of the manufacture :(

It is Thanksgiving here in Canada and hence a holiday from work for me today!

Oh how could I not play with the latest challenge over at Wee Memories :)

I bet you all know my favorite technique is emboss resist LOL!!! It is so much more fun now with the latest Tim Holtz Distress Ink Stains....so fast and easy!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE them!!!

Here is a card I made based on one of Jennifer's McGuire's card from the last day of of online inspiration showcase class...it was so AMAZING!! I also used a sketch from Kristina Werner that was provided in this same class :)

Good afternoon!! I'm back....just didn't feel like myself after my last post....guess it is good to try something "outside" your comfort zone, BUT I think I will leave that just to colour combos LOL!

This Monday's Papertrey ink Make it Monday's Erin showed us how to make thick chipboard accents....not sure why I don't do this more...it looks fabulous!. I actually used to do this more for letter titles on scrapbook pages...boy I NEED to some of those again....guilt :)

Well today I have a very unusal card for me....I am sooo trying to make more (well any lol) clean and simple cards...incorporating white backgrounds!

So here it is:

I choose two challenges to help me along in the mojo, firstly Papertry Ink and their blog hop with this photo inpiration:

And the challenge at Simon Say Stamps is a Bling challenge and Die cuts so that motivated me to use glitter for my stripes and my dies for the 50 and mat :)

Well I can't say I love it....actually himmed and haughed about even doing this post!!!

The day after.....

Oh Boy the day after ones birthday is well.....exhausting LOL.

I had a house full of ladies for a few days here scrappin/cardmaking and celebrating!! It was the most wonderful time, but now I need a nap...getting to old for all this fun LOL NOT!!!

Anyway....I was able to make four cards and a mixed media board in between all the fun on the dock, swimming, and eating and eating and eating and drinking some vino :)

My first card is for the current challenge over at Simon Says Stamps Challenge: All White with a coloured image. I used this adorable set from Jane's Doodles for my images :) and my inspiration came from the oh so talented Joy :)

Today I am playing along with the CASE Study challenge and Embellish Coloring Color Trends challenge. This is the card I made:

I was so happy that my fellow DT member Jinny Newlin did a tutorial video on her gorgeous "Dressy Bows"....I had one of those ah ha moments :O

For the CASE Study we were to choose a DT member to CASE...well that was a challenge in itself....they are all so AMAZING! I fell in LOVE with this card by Mariana Grigsby, who actually CASEd it from Cristina Kowalczik, who CASEd it from Jill Foster :0 WOW what a chain!!! lol

I used this weeks colours from the Embellish Colouring Color Trends challenge:

I decided to colour my own background paper with my newly acquired Jenny Bowlin dye inks by Ranger. I used the following colours: chewing gum, stick candy, and lemon drops. The brown is a Tim Holtz distress ink in colour frayed burlap. Stamps used are from Papertrey Ink: Dot Spot and Hero Arts CL491 Made with Love (sentiment). The kraft embossed background is made from a Papertrey Ink impression plate, which I lightly applied frayed burlap distress ink to the raised areas :)

Impression Obsession ORANGE and 1st Pub :)

Hello!! Just sharing a challenge card, and my one and only publication (so far) I hope :) Both cards share my love of creating my own patterned papers!

Impression-Obsession latest challenge is to use the colour orange. I must confess, orange is not my go-to-colour by any means!! So I challenged myself to ONLY use orange in the card.....not to sure if I LOVE the result, but I tolerate it LOL!!

I wanted to make the card using ONLY orange and ONLY using Impression-Obsession stamps...NO patterned paper used only Neenah solar white to start:)

The following Cover-A-Card IO stamps were used: 078 Round Floral, 027 Flourishes, 079 Lg. Kaleidoscope, and 037 Sm. Paisley. Sentiment is a SRM sticker. The butterflies are dies from PTI. Inks are Tim Holtz Distress inks.

I was so wanting to complete another mixed media board to add to the other two I made a few months ago. I needed to finish another one so I could put them up as art work in my daughters room, but the mojo was not flowing UNTIL I saw this inspiration from CR84FN35 story:

I decided to go a little darker on the lavender so it would tie in better with the other two canvases :)

There are probably about 10 different layers of ink and stamping going on....I just kept looking at it and adding more!!....not too sure it the background is a wee bit too busy LOL!!! Oh well, my daughter loves it so that is what matters :)

Well off to enjoy our sunny holiday here in Canada :)

Hello friends! I wanted to go back to my favorite thing to do....stamp on white paper to create my own patterned papers....so rewarding :)

My other goal for this card was to use three challenges, I am not sure if I ever have done this!! So I started with this fab sketch by Cardabilities and combined it with this inspiration from the Shabby Tea Room where we are to use the colours Pink, Green, Yellow, and any neutral. The third challenge I wanted to enter was the Impression-Obsession....use only IO stamps :)...no problem I LOVE their background stamps :)

I am soo lovin' this heat wave :)

This week at The Play Date Cafe we have another colour splash story for you all, BUT the fun part is that you can choose your own colour!!!

Here is my card:

The background is actually a stamp from Impression Obsession...love their C-A-C background stamps. I hand made the crocheted the flower with twine from the Twinery :) works perfectly!!

Happy weekend!! Boy is it hot today...I am so NOT complaining though LOL! DO that and it will snow!!! I have a card to share today using a cool inking technique that Papertrey ink showcased on their Make it Monday post HERE

This is a pic of my home made stamp pad...it was sooo much faster using this technique. I only inked it up once with the three different colours of ink and away I stamped :) I have saved it in a baggie for future use:)
